A childhood love, blooms into a stunning wedding day

Grantley and Nicole met each other in high school, when he was in grade 8 and she in grade 7, but they only started dating when she was in grade 10 and he in 11 and they have been together ever since, in fact not one day has passed by where they haven’t spoken to each other in all these years.
They both agree they prefer marriage to dating even though dating was great fun and taught them a lot about themselves and each other. They say they love the journey they are on, even though there are definite ups and downs, however, they are doing their best to tackle these together, now as a married couple. The major thing they have discovered about each other is their way of cleaning certain things; they have found they are totally opposites! Nicole says they are both trying to focus on just enjoying every moment they have together and going on as many adventures as they possibly can. “What’s better than spending your life with your best friend?” asks Nicole.
When asked what made them fall in love with their choice of wedding venue, Nicole says “what isn’t there to love?”
They both fell in love with the industrial feel of the venue and that it also felt somewhat rustic, but still modern. They chose a common shape throughout the décor as well as their stationery – a hexagon. Their colours of choice were white, steel blue and grey and they had beautiful cake toppers in the shape of wolves, as they are now Mr and Mrs Wolf!
Most of their décor was quite simplistic, with straight, pure lines which would complement the venue. Light was important to them and they chose to hang the roof full of fairy lights in the reception hall which really created the look and feel they wanted. Nicole’s mom took care of the flowers for them; Nicole’s instructions wereas that she wanted white flowers, any type, with touches of pink and that is exactly what she got; white flowers, eucalyptus as greenery and touches of pink! She was over the moon with the end result.
Nicole found her dream dress at Blissfully Bridal, an Enzoani gown. She actually tried on the same gown at another boutique but found that Blissfully Bridal was much more her personality. She has tiny feet and was over me the moon to find the right fit at a steal. With regards to her jewellery, Nicole was fortunate to have won a beautiful bracelet from entering one of the competitions Wedding Collection Online Magazine ran with Georgini Jewellery and she says that she wore it with pride on her special day. Getting ready was a real family affair as her cousin, whilst being 8 months pregnant, did her hair and her sister her make-up, she was delighted with the outcome!
This couple truly wanted to celebrate their special day with their loved ones and friends, so Nicole had 8 bridesmaids and Grantley had 7 groomsmen. Their gorgeous nephew Nate was their page Paige boy and although he is very little he handled this huge job, very well.
When quizzed about what was special on their wedding day, Nicole says they had a doughnut wall for the guests as well as a stunning two tier cake which had gorgeous grey marble hexagons on, lovingly madeke by her sister. They also surprised all their guests with a full on choreographed first dance and everyone was amazed and entertained, even though they only practiced like 3 times, this went off without a hitch!
They gave each of their guests a personalized Perspex keyring which doubled up as a wedding favour as well as their seating chart. They loved the Perspex element to their wedding and used it as part of the theme for their day.
A little surprise happened as Nicole got to the end of the aisle, it started raining, out of nowhere, the sun was shining, but there was a little downpour. We at Wedding Collection think it was just God blessing your vows and wedding day.The positive to this little surprise was that it was fabulous for the pics, the storm in the background on one side and the sun setting in the distance on the other.
Nicole lists their wedding highlights as follows:
• Our dance
• Our MCs (My sister and brother-in-law and how their WHOLE speech rhymed, throughout the entire evening!)
• The sermon in our ceremony
• Our vows
• Dancing with all our friends
Absolutely everything about the day was a highlight!
Nicole’s words of advice are “enjoy the day, it goes so fast! Don’t keep thinking about “what comes next” – live in the moment and everything will happen as it should! Also, if you are an emotional person (like me) – that’s TOTALLY okay! Be who you are and experince YOUR day the way you need to, there is no right or wrong . A really fun thing we had for our guests while we were taking photos was giant jenga and croque – everyone commented on how fun that was!”
