Being high school sweethearts, and never dating anyone else, Teagan and Nick tied the knot after being together for 11 years.
Nick and Teagan can be described in a nutshell as family crazy! They met at a family event, when Teagan was a mere 14 years old and Nick a mere 16 and have been together ever since. Even their proposal included their families as it was Teagan’s wish to have them there. Under the guise of a Christmas family dinner, Nick popped the question and his proposal was followed by loud shouts and clapping when she squealed “Yes!”
Teagan says she fell in love with the rose gardens and the beautiful chandeliers at the elegant Summer Place. The word’s she uses to describe her wedding day is elegance, fairy-tail, love, romantic, modern and white. She found all of these elements at Summer Place.
To set the tone for their wedding day, Teagan and Nick wanted to create excitement and suspense and wanted their guests to know at first glance that they were in for a real treat, so they sent out an e-invite which was very elegant with a touch of antique.
The vision for their wedding day was always – “White Modern Elegance.” They wanted very little colour and white was most prominent in the décor, furniture and flowers. The only colour was coral which she chose for the bridesmaid’s gowns which complemented the all-white theme elegantly.
Beautiful rectangle all white gloss tables were used in the reception area. To add to the modern look, no tablecloths were used on the tables and the chairs were clear Perspex. The bridal couple had a beautiful white two-seater sweetheart table. The ceremony was completely white, with white aisle, white Wimbledon chairs and an elegantly draped white gazebo in the jacaranda garden under which they said their “I do’s.” To complete the picture, Teagan was the epitome of elegance as she carried her monochromatic white orchid bouquet down the aisle towards her groom.
Teagan was unsure about what she wanted for her gown. She thought she wanted a satin gown with no lace and a high neckline. After trying on several gowns in this style as well as other styles, in the presence of her bridal party and mom, she was completely overwhelmed and did not feel that she had found “the one.”
Days later her mom sent her link to a website, suggesting she look at the gowns and she was intrigued by what she saw. She called the boutique right away and they fortunately had an opening that same day. Teagan ended up choosing everything she didn’t envisage for her gown, a sweetheart neckline, draped in lace, mermaid style gown!!
For her hair, she wanted a soft, material head piece that could almost fold or mould to the up style she had chosen and she found the exact hair piece with crystals and pearls at the same boutique.
Teagan said that the one thing she wishes she had done differently was making more time for more spontaneous family pics. The professional posed ones were taken, however, being a real family gal, she regrets not having more spur of the moment pics with her loved ones.
The couple feel that the practice they put into their first dance really paid off and it was flawless and so much fun. Teagan says she is very lucky to have a dad that is a great dancer and has great rhythm and she felt confident that it made the “father daughter” dance really easy.
To add a fun element to their wedding they had their guests write special messages on the back of a puzzle to them as a couple, which they completed and had framed. They were very practical to purchase a sea of different coloured flip flops in a range of sizes for their female guests, knowing that they wouldn’t want to wear their high heels late into the night and they were happy to see the colourful flops flipping around the dance floor all evening.
We asked Teagan what the highlight of her day was and we quote her:
100% my biggest highlight was marrying the man of my dreams – Nicholas de Luca; Beautiful Weather;
Having my beautiful friends and sister standing next to me; seeing my dad cry when he saw me for the first time: Nick’s expression when I walked downs the aisle; Our Music was a hit!! Our dance floor was full until Nick and walked out at mid night. We partied the whole night: a huge highlight was seeing how our closest friends and family came out to support us on our special day and to see how genuinely happy they were for us; Nick’s speech, he wrote me a poem that brought me to tears!!
She happily admits that she had the most magical day of her life, and loved every minute of it. Marrying the man of her dreams, her high school sweetheart and soulmate. From the moment she opened her eyes on her wedding day to when she walked down the aisle, and walking out at midnight through the arch, she realises how blessed she is to have had the wedding of a lifetime. Her very wise advise to future brides and grooms is to never stop dating your wife, and for the wife, to never stop flirting with your husband!!
