Fairytales are made in Heaven

Fairytales are made in Heaven

Daniella and Aki say they thank modern technology for their union.  One day Daniella received a Facebook friend request from Aki, and Daniella admits that she accepted his friend request because she thought he was very handsome. Having recently come out of a bad relationship, Daniella was skeptical and asked him how they knew each other.  Aki says his heart sank as he was afraid that this is where it might end, but he was honest and said that he had seen her profile because they had mutual friends as they both worked for the same International Company.

Daniella lived in Cape Town and Aki in Johannesburg, however, love knows no distance, and soon the days and nights of chatting turned into phone calls which lasted hours on end. As fate would have it, Daniella was due to attend a good friend’s wedding in Johannesburg a couple of weeks later and Aki asked if she would meet him for dinner whilst in town.  She says that even though she had never physically met him, she felt as though she had known him forever and clearly the feelings were mutual, as after their first dinner together he asked her to be his girlfriend. Soon after, Daniella relocated to Pretoria, and the rest as they say, is history.

When Aki surprised Daniella with a trip to Mauritius for her birthday, shocked and ecstatic, Daniella wondered if a proposal was imminent. Many days and romantic moments passed by, so Daniella second guessed her feelings, and decided to forget about it, however, one evening she was led onto the beach for dinner, where a secluded table was set up for just for the two of them surrounded by candles.  It was so romantic, it took her breath away, and soon he was on his knee asking her to marry him.  They both were overcome with emotion and overwhelmed with happiness.

They have very similar tastes, morals, values, likes and dislikes and she says Aki is her calm in every situation; a relationship she had always dreamed of, but didn’t know could exist until she met him. This made it very easy for them to fall in love with their selected venue, Summer Place.  Daniella says she had seen photos of Summer Place and thought the gardens and water feature was so classy and elegant. Coming from Cape Town, it was imperative that the venue was open and had pretty views.  Summer Place ticked all the right boxes for them and they loved how central it is.

Setting the tone for their Fairytale wedding day, this couple decided to use modern technology to invite people to their celebration.  They selected classy rose gold colours for their wedding website which included their love story and photo albums.  This effective way to communicate with guests allows them to RSVP via the website and Daniella was notified instantly of any messages sent or left from guests.

The vision for their wedding day was elegant, classy and most of all romantic.  To achieve this they opted for an abundance of flowers and candles creating soft amber lighting.  Different shades of gold, pale and dusty pinks added to the elegant and romantic theme.

Bianca from Bianca Citron events was their wedding planner, and Daniella says that the moment she sat down with her and gave her a brief on their vision, she understood perfectly and she could not have chosen a better wedding planner as everything went as smoothly as was humanly possible and she showed her skills in selecting all the perfect service providers to make their dreams a reality. Bianca was by Daniella’s side every step of the way and Bianca says they built a beautiful relationship and she went from client to being a special friend.

One thing Daniella was clear on was that she wanted lots of roses in all different shades of pastel pinks and white.  She had seen a pic of a wedding that had flowers hanging from the ceiling, so they opted to have this as a feature over the main table. In Daniella’s own words, “it was absolutely breath taking”. Miguel from Funxion Fusion who made the décor a reality for their special day, told Daniella about the beautiful gold tables he had just had made and the decision was made there and then to use them. Alternating the tables with high and low flower arrangements and lots of candles made the décor styling rich, elegant, romantic and very chic.

Daniella’s vision for her gown was something glamorous and elegant yet flattering to her body shape and communicating this to her designer, Gert van der Merwe, he designed a body fitting dress in silk and 3D hand beaded corded, French Chantilly lace with a full circle mermaid skirt in French silk organza ruffles and a four meter detachable silk organza train. Daniella admits that the six meter lace edged veil complemented the look and created a real WOW factor. Comfortable peep toe kitten heeled shoes with a bit of bling was worn under her stunning gown.  As not to detract from the detailed beading on the gown, Daniella wore a Swarovski crystal bracelet and matching earrings bought by Aki, which added a personal touch.

To finish off her look, Daniella opted for a make-up look that was very polished, using lots of highlighters to enhance her skin and bone structure, sultry eyes and winged eyelids.  Her lips were kept nude with a slight shine.  Her hair had soft loose curls pinned half up and a beautiful crystal clip added the necessary bling.

To make their wedding unique and surprising to their guests, this formidable couple included things they personally love and together with a sax player and drummer they created a grand entrance to their reception.  To achieve this, they called on the services of Marcelle Bolus a choreographer.  Marcelle says that Daniella and Aki chose a song called “Beautiful in White” but also wanted to include a Greek song because of their heritage.  Marcelle included a few lifts in their dance and she boasts that their dance came out spectacular.  The retinue entered to a vibey song creating a circle clapping and getting the crowd going. Then, the couple entered from a different entrance with fireworks going off, dancing their way into the reception area to Greek music and all the guests applauded in amazement to their unique and surprising entrance, which set the tone for the whole evening.

We asked Daniella if she could change anything what it would be and she said that she couldn’t think of a single thing that could have gone better on their wedding day. “Everything was perfect, from our décor, to food, to music everything was just how we dreamt and even better. We did surprise our guests with bringing out a Tequila fountain once the dancing had started that was placed on the dancefloor. Everyone loved it and is still talking about it. It certainly got everyone on the dancefloor and partying all night long”, Daniella laughs.

Their remembered highlights were their grand entrance, their first dance, and having all their family and friends that they love in one room celebrating, dancing and enjoying themselves.  Everything they pictured was made a reality and they were told continually by their guests how much their day was filled with love, emotion and joy.

Daniella’s advice to future brides is to find a wedding planner, who you connect with and who knows the industry well, and to enjoy and take in every moment of the planning and the wedding day as it goes by all too quickly.
