This is what fairy tales are made of! Can you imagine waking up to a gorgeous sparkling diamond on your finger; well this is exactly what happened to our featured bride Sherene, one glorious morning!!
Colin and Sherene met though her sister and they were friends for many years and enjoyed many a dinner together as friends, but as cupid would have it, one evening over a casual dinner, sparks started flying and they both realised that their relationship had blossomed into something much more than just friendship. There and then the planning started, and Sherene selected her gorgeous ring from Browns Jewellers, however she had no idea when or how Colin would propose.
Fast forward seven months and after enjoying an exquisite meal at the elegant Signature restaurant, Colin and Sherene went home and fell asleep. Whilst Sherene was sleeping Colin slipped the engagement ring she had chosen a few weeks prior on her finger and when she woke she was pleasantly surprised and of course, ecstatic!! They both cried and she excitedly called her family and best friend whom were all thrilled.
Sherene describes their relationship as one that compliments each other. She admits to being outspoken and Colin being the more reserved and quiet one. “We are both caring and soft natured people though,” says Sherene.
Everyone loves a view, so it didn’t take long at all for this couple to choose the spectacular Red Ivory Lodge set high on the slopes of the majestic Magaliesberg, with its endless views from both the chapel and the reception area across the Harbeespoort dam and the Magliesberg mountain range. Sherene wanted an elegant theme for her wedding and the reception area at Red Ivory was perfect for her vision.
The vision for this modern couple was not to have a typical or traditional wedding. They did not have a cake to cut, they did not have a garter or bouquet to toss and their announcements and communication with their guests was set up on a wedding app, namely Appy Couple. The design chosen through the app, was elegant and classy, exactly what they were after.
Sherene’s vision for the décor was to have soft and gentle light, so her wedding planner suggested loads of candles and fairly lights. Her colour palette was navy and rose gold, and with all the soft lights it created a very romantic atmosphere and they were completely happy
Sherene says she wanted what she thinks every woman wants on her wedding day, to feel like a princess, so she chose something which would make her look spectacular without all the fuss. She says that her dress was very comfortable and that she kicked off her shoes an hour into the reception!! In fact, comfort being the name of the game, this couple chose stunning flip flops as gifts for their lady guests and encouraged them to dance the night away in them, what a great idea!!
When asked about special moments on her day, Sherene says she was touched by her 2-year-old niece who basically opened the dance floor for them. “It was just the cutest!” beams Sherene. There was also a tender moment when she was waiting for her groom to arrive for their pre-wedding photo shoot in the reception area. Colin walked toward her, and as he got close their photographer told her to turn around. Seeing Colin standing there was so special and all I could do was hold his face in my hands and I was overcome with emotion. A precious memory that will always be cherished by both the groom and bride.
One last and great word of advice from our featured bride, “get a wedding planner, it takes loads of stress off you on your special day.”
